What Can Cause Blurry Vision?

While there can be other, more serious conditions that cause chronic blurry vision, like diabetes, it's often a refractive error. This is when there's an imperfection in the curvature of your lens or the shape or your eye, which means that light won’t properly focus on your retina. As a result, things will look blurry.

How Can It Be Diagnosed?

See an optometrist near you for an eye exam. This may include reading an eye chart, or undergoing different tests to discover the cause of your condition. We may also look for different types of eye diseases that may be lurking in the background, such as macular degeneration or glaucoma.

How Can It Be Treated?

The two most common ways to treat blurry vision are to either get eyeglasses or contact lenses. Some patients get glasses because they don't want to be changing contacts all the time while others choose contacts because they don’t like the look of glasses. In either case, patients can always change if they want to.

There's a third option, which is LASIK surgery. IF you are a good candidate, the surgery may correct the error in your eye permanently so that you don’t have to wear contacts or glasses anymore. Although we do not offer LASIK surgery, we can provide a consultation to see if you would be a good candidate and also help care for you after the surgery is finished.
